The promotor of the Florida Sprint Car Association, Otto
Scrape has participates in various forms of racing for over 30 years. Starting
in 1958, Otto took on the bug early as a racer driving go-carts. He followed up
the go-carts with a tour in a stock car before getting into what would be his
lifelong passion ...sprint cars. Otto raced in many different series before taking
a break for a few years. In 1991 he came back into racing by helping form
the Florida Mini Sprint Association with fellow drivers Marshall Herring, Bruce
Durden, George Peitrick and others. Otto ran with the mini sprints for 3 years
before getting back into 360 sprint cars. From 1993 to 1998 Otto ran with the
American Winged Outlaws and ASCS, but in 1998 he and fellow racer Glenn Beach looked
to form a 360 limted series. That 360 limited series would grow into what
we know today as the Florida Sprint Car Association. After two years of exhibitions,
2000 was the first full year of racing for the FSCA and Otto took home the
championship the first two years. Otto now promotes and races in the series always looking for a win every week. If you come down into the pits at an FSCA event it won't be hard to find Otto Scrape, just look for the racer with a grin from ear to ear looking for a new edge in the battle to tame his lifelong passion. |
